I have been teaching classical guitar lessons, as well as other styles such as acoustic, folk, pop, and rock, for over ten years.  Having studied with guitar teachers for almost all of my life - I started taking lessons at the age of 6 - I can fully appreciate how much a skilled teacher has to offer to a student. I am just as passionate about teaching as I am about performing, and the experience I have performing informs my teaching, and vice versa.

Although I enjoy teaching all ages, I am especially passionate about sharing my love of classical guitar and acoustic style playing with children and teenagers. Having benefited from mentors and teachers who helped me so much, I enjoy being able to pass my knowledge on to my students. Nothing makes me happier than helping one of my students connect fully and joyfully with the music he or she is performing. To that end, while I was guitar faculty at the Peabody Preparatory in Baltimore, MD, I founded the Fret Festival, a daylong celebration of the guitar for all ages and levels

Ben has always been a pleasure to work with. He adjusts his style to the level and disposition of
the children whom he teaches, and he is bright and energetic enough to keep up with them. He
motivates his students to do their best and makes learning fun in the process. As a parent, I also
appreciated his promptness, flexibility, and communication skills. I recommend him most highly
without any reservation.
