2010 Update
Dear friends and fans,
As this new year gets back into the swing of things, I wanted to let you know what's going on with me and my music. I had a great 2009 the first part, spent in Paris, studying with Roland Dyens and performing often with Duo Transatlantique. I composed my first piece there, Awakened Awareness, with the help of Mr. Dyens and was completely inspired by the wonderful city of Paris.
I then finished my Graduate Performance Diploma with Julian Gray, capping off 7 years of intensive and very fruitful study at Peabody. I started composing more, for solo guitar and also writing songs. I stepped out into the real world of music exciting and frightening, all at once. I gave my first performances in England with Duo Transatlantique and we also recorded with John Taylor in London. John is a very experienced producer and he's worked frequently with Eliot Fisk. We're aiming to share the fruits of our labors with a new CD release in April 2010.
In the latter part of 2009, I performed solo pieces and even did a little singing here and there I played in North Carolina for a charity group called Two Cents of Hope, raising money for impoverished schoolchildren in India. I played for the Art and Soul Coffeehouse at Wellesley college, sharing my music and enjoying the open-mic session that followed. And I played for A Day Without Hate at Rutgers University, hopefully bringing a little peace and love into that event :)
2010 brings a lot of opportunities to hear me play and support what I do, as well as affording me time and space to delve into my own creativity. I have many projects happening at once I hope when they come to fruition they will be as enjoyable as I find them to be while I am working on them. I'm giving a few solo concerts in February, and a tour with Duo Transatlantique in April. You can check my calendar for upcoming dates of performances.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement. It means the world to me and helps me to thrive in a challenging but very rewarding field.
Best wishes for 2010!
Ben
